If you’re active on social media at all, you may have heard about “No Shave November.” If you’re not aware of what it is exactly, according to the No-Shave site:
No Shave November is a month-long journey during which participants forgo shaving and grooming in order to evoke conversation and raise cancer awareness.
Of course, there are plenty of ways you can participate or have fun while raising cancer awareness.
How It Got Started
This concept is one based on the theory of embracing your hair. Many cancer patients do not have the luxury of hair and in this month each year, participants are encouraged to donate money to cancer awareness equal to what they would typically spend on shaving products and grooming.
How Does It Work?
The rules of “No Shave November” are pretty straightforward – simply donate what you’d normally spend on grooming and shaving. However, trimming or grooming your hair is perfectly acceptable because not everyone has the luxury of being able to just go wild with their beards or underarm hair at work. Often, jobs require a dress code. Just use your own discretion. The important thing is to be aware and help donate and spread the word.
How to Get Involved
There are plenty of fun ways to take part in this event and it’s not just for men. In fact, women can throw down their razors too.
You can easily set up your own support page and allow your friends and family to donate and get in on the fun.
You can register to participate right on their page or start your own fundraiser.
Get others involved by making it fun. Take plenty of photos, get people to comment or make suggestions, and just raise awareness. However, according to Men’s Health:
The whole point of Movember is to use your mustache for advocacy and discussion, not your beard.
So keep it about cancer awareness while you’re participating.
